We are excited to invite you to the first session of a brand-new Mutual Learning Platform series! Join us on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 13:00 to 15:00 GMT (don’t forget to convert to your local time zone) for a thought-provoking conversation:
“Beyond Indicators: Exploring Collaborative Monitoring and Evaluation in Child Protection”

🌍 What’s this series about?

In a world driven by results, data, and indicators, we often forget that behind every number is a human story. Particularly in the field of Child Protection, the pressure to show measurable impact is high. But what happens when impact is intangible—like shifts in family dynamics or reductions in violence? Can we measure that? Should we?

In this interactive series, we’ll explore:
• How to tell stories of change in complex, dynamic realities.
• The ethics and impact of how and what we choose to measure.
• How to avoid objectifying the people we work with in the name of data.
• What happens when we shift the focus from results to relationships.

From a social constructionist and collaborative perspective, we’ll reflect on how our inquiry and monitoring practices shape what we see as “truth”—and how including diverse voices, especially those of communities themselves, can transform the story. And for that, we’d love to hear your voice too!

🌀 Special Guest during session 1: Jan DeFehr

We’re honored to welcome Jan DeFehr, who will introduce the concept of Social Dialogic Inquiry and how it can be applied to learning and evaluation in the Child Protection context.

This session kicks off a mini-series of three Zoom sessions in 2025, with the other two dates to be announced later. Each session can also be attended on its own. We invite you to co-reflect and co-create new ideas around monitoring and evaluation. Whether you’re a practitioner, researcher, donor, or community member—your perspective matters, and you are warmly welcome.

📝 Register now for free: Participation is free, but space is limited. Reserve your spot by registering here.

🚀 Spread the word! These sessions are open to all. Please feel free to share this invitation within your network—we believe that diverse perspectives make our learning richer and more meaningful.

Looking forward to seeing you there! 😊
